Sometimes, a client will show up to a session and say:
“I don’t really know what to bring today… things are actually going pretty well.”
This often happens after we’ve worked together through a period of challenge or change—burnout, a career pivot, growing pains in a business, a big life transition. And now? Things are more stable. More spacious. There’s less urgency.
And suddenly, the old reflex kicks in: If I’m not actively in crisis, do I really need support?
Here’s what I want to say to every woman who’s ever asked herself that question:
Yes. Yes, you do.
Not because you need fixing— but because this is where the real expansion begins.
Coaching isn’t only about getting through the hard things.
It’s about expanding what’s possible when you’re ready for more.
More clarity. More congruence between your values and your work. More impact that actually feels like you. More capacity to lead from presence, not performance.
When you’re not in survival mode, you have the space to get curious. To ask:
-
- What is this version of success teaching me about what I want next?
- What new patterns am I ready to build?
- What do I want to carry forward—and what am I finally ready to release?
That’s where coaching comes in.
Sometimes the most powerful coaching conversations happen after a win.
After the promotion. After the successful launch. After you’ve finally started to feel like yourself again. After the hard thing has passed and you’re standing in the quiet that follows.
These are the moments when our nervous systems start to settle. We can breathe a little easier. We have more perspective. And that’s when we’re ready to go deeper—not because we’re broken, but because we’re open.
When we feel safe, the brain becomes a powerhouse for growth.
There’s actual neuroscience behind this.
When we’re in crisis, our brain prioritizes survival. Our stress response kicks in, narrowing our focus, dampening curiosity, and making it harder to take in new perspectives.
But when we’re in a more regulated state—when things feel manageable, maybe even good—that’s when the prefrontal cortex lights up. That’s the part of the brain responsible for insight, long-term planning, creativity, and emotional integration.
This is why coaching in moments of ease can be so potent. You’re not just reacting—you’re integrating, visioning, stretching into new ways of being.
In these sessions, the questions shift:
-
- What do I want to grow into now that I’m not surviving?
- What version of success am I ready to redefine?
- How do I stay rooted in alignment as I rise?
In success, we build. We expand. We align.
Think of it like this: Coaching during challenge is triage. Coaching during success is architecture.
You’re designing something new. Something that fits your current season of life and leadership. You’re not just reacting—you’re shaping.
I’ve coached leaders and business owners right after they’ve hit big milestones. From the outside, it looked like they’d “arrived.” But inside, they were asking:
-
- “Now what?”
- “Why doesn’t this feel as good as I thought it would?”
- “What do I want to be known for from here?”
These aren’t breakdown questions. They’re breakthrough questions. And they’re worth answering from a place of power, not panic.
Coaching in the “good times” isn’t extra. It’s essential.
If you’re a leader building something—a business, a body of work, a life that actually feels like yours—you already know the pace can be relentless.
You’re leading, influencing, nurturing, creating. You’re showing up with grit and grace and vision.
And even when things are going well, it can feel like there’s no pause—no place to reflect, celebrate, recalibrate, or ask:
What’s next? What’s mine to carry now—and what can I finally put down?
That’s the power of coaching during ease. You’re not waiting for a breakdown to break things open. You’re choosing to evolve while you’re steady.
That’s wisdom. That’s leadership.
So here’s your permission slip:
You don’t have to be falling apart to invest in your growth.
You’re allowed to want more ease, more alignment, more joy—even when things are going well. Especially when they are.
Coaching can be your scaffolding before things feel shaky. It can be your mirror after you’ve already made a leap. It can be the sacred pause between chapters—the moment where you gather your breath before your next bold step.
Because you don’t just deserve support when you’re struggling. You deserve support when you’re rising. 🌱
