Change is never easy—even when we know it’s necessary.
Whether you’re leading a business, shifting careers, stepping into a new leadership role, or navigating a season of personal upheaval, one thing is always true: growth asks us to move through discomfort.
We’ve all heard the phrase “there’s no growth in the comfort zone”.
And yet, we rarely talk about how truly disorienting the growth zone can feel.
It’s messy. Uncertain. Sometimes lonely.
But there’s one thread that runs through every meaningful shift I’ve ever made, and every one I’ve coached others through: learning.
Learning is change.
It’s not just gaining knowledge—it’s rewiring how we think, feel, and act.
It literally changes our brains.
And it’s the essential process that allows us to grow into new ways of leading, living, and working.
I’ve realized that my passion for learning is what has allowed me to not only navigate change in my own life—but actively seek it. Learning helps me make sense of change. It gives it shape, purpose, and possibility.
But here’s the hard truth: even with a love of learning, change is still uncomfortable.
And when things get uncomfortable, most people tend to retreat. They isolate. They try to power through alone.
That isolation makes everything harder. When we feel alone in our discomfort, we start to shrink:
-
- We question our instincts
- We doubt our decisions
- We lower our goals
- We let fear take the wheel
And often?
We give up—not because we’re not capable, but because we’re trying to navigate change without the support we need to truly grow through it.
I know this because I’ve lived it.
When I sold my first business, I knew deep down it was the right choice. I had other dreams I wanted to pursue. But I tried to handle the entire transition alone.
I didn’t ask for help.
I didn’t have a coach.
And while I got through it, the process was longer, harder, and messier than it needed to be.I ended that chapter feeling drained, disconnected, and like I wanted to disappear—not celebrate.
The change itself wasn’t the problem. The isolation was.
Fast forward to the sale of my second business—I did it differently.
I had already been working with a coach regularly by then, because I’d learned (the hard way) that natural leadership qualities only take you so far.
To lead well through change, I needed deeper support and a place to reflect, learn, and strategize.
That coaching made all the difference.
The process was still emotional, but it was clear, aligned, and supported.
I came out of that season feeling empowered—not erased.
This is why I do the work I do now.
I work as a coach and learning facilitator because too many small business owners, leaders, and mid-career professionals are carrying big transitions alone.
Because growth doesn’t have to mean pushing through silently.
Because with the right support, change can feel like an opening—not just a closing.
Coaching won’t make change easy. But it will make it easier.
More intentional.
More supported.
More rooted in who you are and what you’re growing toward.
If you’re in a season of change, you don’t have to figure it out alone.
Let’s talk about how coaching can support you as you lead, learn, and grow through what’s next.
